Mary is a Christian Counselor who uses the Word of God as the basis of her practice. God used 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4 to call her into this work: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." She also strongly believes that we all can be "transformed by the renewing of our minds," (Romans 12:2) and that confession of sin and repentance is vitally important to mentally healthy living.
Mary graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, in 1984 with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. She worked for the next 8 years as a high school band director. Her bands received several awards. She plays the clarinet and harp. Though she is not currently in a performing group, she has been a part of the Grace Wind Ensemble, the Nebraska Wind Symphony, The Continental Orchestra, and has performed with the Omaha Symphony. She also worked as a radio announcer for 4 years at KVNO, Classical 90.7 in Omaha.
In 1995, Mary again graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, with a Master's Degree in Social Work. She did her practicum as a hospital social worker at Creighton University Hospital, and an intern as an outpatient mental health and substance abuse therapist through Lutheran Family Services,(LFS) in Bellevue. She continued to work full-time at LFS until she moved into private practice with Bellevue Psychological Associates in 2006.
Mary is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Christian Counseling.
